BSBSMB401A- Electrical Contracting focus: Establish legal and risk management requirements of small business

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify and comply with the regulatory, legal, taxation and insurance requirements, and risk management needs of small and medium businesses.

Specific legal requirements apply to the management of a small and medium businesses.

The unit is suitable for existing micro and small businesses or setting up a new business.

This unit outcome:

  • Identify appropriate legal business structures to meet the requirements of small to medium businesses in an electrical contracting context.
  • recognise legal and regulatory requirements of small business.
  • develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements of small business.
  • arrange and negotiate contracts in the context of a small to medium electrical contracting  business.

Qualified Business Person:

This unit is part of the requirements for people who are applying for an electrical contractor’s licence from the Electrical Safety Office (ESO) to become a Qualified Business Person (QBP).

Pre-Requisites:

No Pre-Requisite is required for this unit.

Students will need to complete an assignment before course commencement.

UEENEEG175A- Qualified Business Person (QBP): Develop compliance policies and plans to conduct an electrical contracting business

This unit covers the development of plans and policies to ensure regulatory requirements are met in conducting a contracting business, regulatory compliance, occupational and workplace relation requirements associated with functions and responsibilities of a contracting business. It encompasses applying knowledge of compliance regulations and standards, legislated obligations in relation to safety, the environment, heritage sites and employment and human resources.

Pr-Requisites:

Granting competency in this unit shall be made only after competency in the following unit has been confirmed.

UEENEE101A Apply Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace.

Students will also need to complete an assignment before course commencement. Basic Literacy and Computer skills are required for this course.
