Overview
The UEE22020 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) is an ideal pre-apprenticeship pathway for school leavers, career starters, and those seeking a hands-on introduction to the electrical trade.
Delivered by Electro Group Training, this nationally recognised course provides the essential safety knowledge, practical skills, and industry exposure needed to work safely in an electrotechnology environment and prepare for entry into an electrical apprenticeship or trade assistant role. Training is delivered face-to-face and focuses on real-world electrical tasks, workplace expectations, and practical learning.

Do I need to have Prior Knowledge or Work Experience?
You will not need any prior knowledge or work experience relating to the electrical industry. A high level of maths and science skills is highly recommended.
Do I need to complete Work Experience to complete this qualification?
While Electro Group recommends work experience as part of the Certificate II in Electrotechnology, work experience is not mandatory and does not form part of Electro Group’s training or assessment strategies. We do offer a work placement program at the sucessful completion of your course to further enhance your industry abilities with industry leading companies.
What can I continue to study after this?
Having completed the Certificate II in Electrotechnology, participants may seek further advancement and proceed to the Certificate III in Electrotechnology (apprenticeship).
Study Option: UEE22020 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start)
- Delivery Mode: Face to Face training
- Location: Pinkenba Campus
- Duration: 8 weeks - 5 days/week (2 week industry placement program - successful completion only)

All students enrolling into this qualification are required to undertake a Language Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) assessment.
Appropriate methods of assessment, which meet the learning needs of the individual, including reasonable adjustment, will be made where necessary to ensure fairness and equity within the learning process.

Prior to enrolment we are able to assess your skills via Credit Transfers If you have completed an accredited program through another training provider or you have relevant industry experience you may be eligible to receive a Credit Transfer. Funding Requirements
Career Start provides Queenslanders with skills and support to start their career. This course is funded under the general training pathway for eligible Queenslanders for access to lower-level qualifications identified by industry as the entry point for jobs.
To be eligible, you must:
- be aged 15 years or older, and no longer in school
- permanently live in Queensland
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with an eligible visa subclass
- not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student, and foundation skills qualifications don't count)
- not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it's on hold or deferred, whether funded by us (Department of Trade, Employment and Training) or not (foundation skills qualification don't count).
Under Career Start, you may access up to 2 funded training places through one of the following options:
- a qualification in a certificate III under the general training pathway and an apprenticeship or traineeship. If the apprenticeship or traineeship is completed first, you are not eligible to access a general training pathway qualification under Career Start
- or
- two apprenticeships and traineeships in either a certificate II or III (school-based apprenticeships and traineeships are included in this total).
