This cluster of units covers the skills and knowledge required to install, terminate and test structured (data), coaxial and optical fibre cabling on customer premises for a wide range of communications applications. Learners gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and testing equipment, including TDR and OTDR analysers, to ensure network integrity, performance, and compliance with ACMA and Australian Standards.
What you will learn:
• Install, terminate and test optical fibre cabling systems
• Perform OTDR testing for fibre network verification and certification
• Apply safe handling, fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques
• Install, terminate and certify structured cabling (Cat6 and Cat6A)
• Use TDR equipment for structured and coaxial cable testing
• Install and terminate coaxial cabling for communications applications
• Follow ACMA and Australian Standard compliance requirements
• Apply best-practice cable management, dressing and pathway installation
On successful completion, participants will be eligible to apply for the Structured (Data), Coax, Fibre and Testing specialisations required to upgrade their ACMA Open Registration.
